Queenz of Hip-Hop

Queenz of Hip-HopIn 2010, Hip-Hop Congress Denver at the University of Colorado Denver wanted to celebrate Women’s History Month in its own unique way. After tossing around several ideas, they landed on something brand new to the Colorado scene – an event showcasing women in the local Hip-Hop community, highlighting our female DJs, artists, poets, emcees, B-girls, and graffiti writers. Queenz of Hip-Hop was born! Since that dream in 2010, the Queenz of Hip-Hop event has grown exponentially and now reaches women across the United States and across international borders. Each year the event promises to be our biggest event yet, featuring a cypher night, performances, a full day of battles, workshops by internationally renowned dancers and even more. In addition our event collects items and donations that benefits a local non-profit organization that serves women and children. Finally our annual event is family friendly, and empowering not only for women and youth of color, but for all in attendance. The Queenz of Hip-Hop event is put together by the collective with the same name, a group of diverse women of all ages and nationalities, that work together to focus on female empowerment and expression through workshops, performances, and meeting spaces to nurture and uplift women of all ages.
